Tarmac sealcoating
Sealcoating is the process of spraying or squeegeeing a protective coating onto an asphalt surface to reduce degradation and prolong its life. The process has been utilised in the USA since the early 1960’s and is now a recognised method of asphalt maintenance.
Left untreated, asphalt areas deteriorate rapidly. Ultra-violet rays from the sun oxidise the asphalt binder which holds the aggregate together, turning the asphalt from a rich black colour to brown then grey. The asphalt starts to weather, losing its binding properties, moisture and oil penetrate and the surface begins to break up. Sealcoating the asphalt prevents the sun’s rays from penetrating, thereby preventing deterioration.
This asphalt protection system is particularly innovative and effective and it is important to contact us for a full explanation and demonstration as appropriate.
Domestic driveways will benefit from Sealcoating, to protect the asphalt and improve its appearance to look almost like new.
Fernmac can supply various Sealcoating liquids in small quantities for use on domestic driveways. Application can be carried out by contractor or DIY using the application products also supplied by Fernmac.
